Is Your Home Properly Insulated? - Lebens
16.09.2025

High-quality thermal insulation is the key to reducing heat loss and improving energy efficiency. Proper wall insulation significantly lowers heating costs and helps save money every year.

Modern insulation solutions also reduce CO₂ emissions and minimize environmental impact.

Today, it is possible to build a warm, energy-efficient, and cost-effective house that consumes significantly less energy both for heating in winter and cooling in summer. Lower energy consumption means lower environmental pollution.

Effective insulation: improves indoor comfort, reduces heating expenses, decreases energy consumption, enhances the building’s overall performance.

Thermal Performance

Thermal insulation properties depend on operating temperature. Rockwool mineral wool maintains excellent thermal performance even under extreme conditions, including fire exposure.

A properly installed insulation layer protects structural elements from ignition and melting while limiting fire spread.

Fire Resistance

Rockwool stone wool fibers withstand temperatures above 1000°C. Although binders may evaporate at temperatures above 250°C, the stone wool fibers remain intact and maintain structural strength.

Rockwool products are classified as A1 – non-combustible, the highest fire safety rating.

Acoustic Performance

Rockwool stone wool consists of interwoven fibers with air gaps, providing excellent sound absorption.

It effectively: reduces airborne sound (R’w), minimizes impact noise (L’w), improves overall acoustic comfort.

Higher R’w values indicate better airborne sound insulation.
Lower L’n,w values mean better impact sound insulation.

Moisture Resistance and Vapor Permeability

Moisture negatively affects insulation performance. Rockwool stone wool is water-repellent and does not absorb moisture under normal conditions.

Once dried, it fully restores its original thermal properties.

Unlike many polymer insulation materials, Rockwool is highly vapor permeable (similar vapor resistance to air). This allows buildings to “breathe,” prevents moisture accumulation, and ensures a healthy indoor microclimate.
